Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a headshot and brand photography?

A good headshot showcases who you are, whereas branding photography helps tell the story of both you and your business to create an emotional connection with your ideal audience.

Personal brand photography allows you to create a bank of creative imagery to use in a variety of places over time, like your website, email marketing, social media accounts, podcast or YouTube channel, and for promotional partnerships.

What about hair and makeup?

I always recommend getting your hair and makeup professionally done if you’re uncomfortable doing your own or want a more polished look.

Even if you never wear make-up, I suggest a ’no make-up make-up’ look to even out your skin tone, accentuate your features, make your eyes pop, and add a glow.

By all means, if you’re good at doing your own… please do! But if not, have no fear — I have plenty of recommendations for hair and makeup and some of my packages include hair and makeup services.

What should I wear/bring to my photo shoot?

Wear clothes that make you feel HAPPY, confident, and allow for sitting as well as moving around comfortably. Choose colors or themes that coordinate with your brand identity.

Accessorize to highlight your personality; think hats, scarves, jewelry, shoes, or even fun props that help tell the story of who you are and what you do.

Where will my photo session be located?

That’s completely up to you! The look, feel, essence of what you want to convey determines the location. As a natural light photographer, I prefer well-lit locations with natural light. I photograph on location based on what we decide together. I love both outdoors and indoors.

Suggestions include: your home or office, your favorite local coffee shop, co-working areas, hotel lobbies, fields, rivers, mountains, forests, urban settings, art walls, etc.

Also, if you work with folks in person, teach classes, or are hands on with your craft, it’s a great idea to showcase that work during our session.
